Chapter 4
Media Influence

In today’s society most people would prefer to watch a movie rather than read a book. This is true for a number of reasons. Movies take less time and effort than books to understand. Movies are also advertised more so people are more likely to go see one. Another reason movies are more influential is internal advertising. Products and ideals are often within the script or props of the movie. Viewers are being influenced without even realizing it. However, books have been around much longer than movies. People still continue to read old books as well as new. Some books are so influential that people have attempted to have them banned. To Kill a Mockingbird, Huckleberry Finn, and Fahrenheit 451 are a few examples of books people thought were challenging enough to their ideals that no one should read them. Because of this, I would consider books to be the more influential than movies.
